My name is Laura, and I was raised in conservative Baptist churches and a patriarchal household. As someone who values critical thinking, I often found myself questioning many aspects of the church and the teachings I received.
 

Furthermore, I endured decades of abuse, both within the church and in my first marriage. The sermons and Bible studies I encountered never seemed to address my pressing questions or provide clarity on the profound challenges I faced in my daily life.
 

Eventually, I made the difficult decision to leave the institutionalized version of "church" and end my abusive marriage. This marked the beginning of an intensive exploration of the Bible, where I began to question everything I had been taught. I delved into topics that once seemed to conflict with the Holy Spirit within me. I was shocked as I learned the history of the church, found mistranslations in the Bible, and realized that many of our traditional church doctrines were influenced by bias, inadequate exegesis, and mere tradition.
 

Gradually, I found solace and a deeper comprehension of God's Word by correcting these mistranslations and gaining a more accurate understanding through studying the Greek and Hebrew passages.
 

Then, something remarkable occurred. I encountered a Christian man who stood apart from anyone else I had encountered in all my years of attending church. His love mirrored that of Jesus, and I witnessed the clear presence of God within him. Recognizing that we were destined to be together, we embarked on our marriage journey as partners and soulmates. In 2025 we became parents to a beautiful boy.
